Heart of Hale
Bringing Joy
Arts Strategy, 2020

Meanwhile arts strategy for Tottenham Hale, 'Bringing Joy' was a multi-phase public programme for a place in transition. Alongside our curatorial partner, Rebecca Heald, we provided strategic advice that included context, vision, ambition and maximisation of the allocated budget for the site.

Central to the Heart of Hale mission are the people who will inhabit these spaces; how to attract new residents, and how to welcome those already living nearby. The site offered an important opportunity to create a dialogue with the people who live in the area and an amenity both for them and those who will come later.

‘As you pass me by, know that it is nothing but love from me’ by Yinka Ilori MBE for Heart of Hale

The outline plan looked to connect and reflect Tottenham Hale's rich local resources; the wider Haringey arts programme, current and traditional producers and industries, open space, the expanse of nature and variety of wildlife provided by the River Lea, the Marshes, local parks, the Wetlands and that almost 1 in 5 residents working in the creative industries, Tottenham is among the most creative areas of London.
