As you pass me by, know that it is nothing but love from me
Installation, 2021

Public realm curation and commissioning for Heart of Hale, ‘As you pass me by, know that it is nothing but love from me’ was 56 meters of pink pattern perfection, aiming to bring some colour, texture and joy to a space in progress, a space in disruption.

‘As you pass me by, know that it is nothing but love from me’ by Yinka Ilori

The artwork envisioned the celebration of the existing community within Tottenham Hale, and the possibility for all different communities of the area - new and old - to be integrated. The work also took inspiration from the historical context of the site and Tottenham's connection to the rest of London via the river Lea; a meandering body of water that is organic, unpredictable and in a way that is reflective of the lives of the individuals it passes by. Ilori used a rhythmic pattern to reference the river flow, which is in turn a metaphor for the ever-changing urban landscape of London.

This work was the first in a series of public realm interventions from Ilori, commissioned for Heart of Hale and part of our wider Arts Strategy for the site.
