The Wrench
Installation, 2019
Public realm curation and commissioning for King’s Cross, ‘The Wrench’ by poet and musician James Massiah was written for the launch of Coal Drops Yard. A meanwhile project to make use of a yet to be leased anchor unit, the piece was installed across the windows of Unit 5, on the viaduct level and gable end just in time for the opening night.
Poet and Musician, James Massiah, has made a name for himself with his unique blend of wordplay, music, and lyrical mastery in which he serially details the ups and downs of life, love and labour in London. We invited him to visit the construction site prior to opening and what came to be was a poem entitled ‘The Wrench’.
